                            2005 Racing

January 1, 2005 - Glend took the new car out to Gulfport Dragway for testing.  The engine was just built by Womack Block & Head and the it was Dyno Tested at Larry Moe's place.  The BBC 468 engine put out over 650 HP and over 560 ft-lb. of Torque.  Glend did not make a complete 1/4 mile pass, but on one pass he got out of it before crossing the finish line and still ran a 9.38 at only 130 MPH, slowing down!  I can't wait to see what this car does at No Problem or State Capitol Dragway.  He may be down in the 9.20's!

January 5, 2005 - Glend and Glend, Jr. took the Camaro to No Problem Raceway Park.  They didn't get to the 9.20's, but they were close.  The car ran back to back 9.34 @ 147 MPH!  That MPH is excellent for a 468 CID BBC.  The two Glend's were very happy with the way the car ran, especially being consistent.
Glend Sr. plans to have Skip rebuild the 1050 Holley to see if they can solve a loading up problem at low RPM.  Other than that, everything was prefect.

January 13, 2005 -  Glend delivered the 1050 Dominator to Skip for cleaning and refreshing.  The carb has been completed and it will be put back on the car today.  We hope to test it this weekend at No Problem Raceway park.

January 15, 2005 - Glend installed a Holley 1150 carb owned by a friend and went to NPRP.  On his first pass he went 9.28 @145 MPH.
Glend removed that carb and put on the 1050 Holley that Skip overhauled.  The car almost stood on its back bumper and came down to an amazing 9.13 @ 146 MPH!  What about that for a BBC 468 CID engine!  Congratulations Glend!

January 27, 2005 - Glend is still improving the Camaro.  He has now had a set of 52 inch, spring loaded, wheelie bars installed.  During the last runs at NPRP, Glend was looking at the sky when he left on his 9.13 run!  The bars were installed at 5.5 inches high which should keep the front end down and may improve his times even more. February 11, 2005 - Glend McDonald and Glend Jr. were also at SCD with the Camaro.  They made several passes, one of them was a very respectable 9.15 sec. @148 MPH.  They had some handling problems and adjusted the wheelie bars (6.5" to bolt) to prevent unloading the tires. After the adjustment the car ran straight and true.
Glend Jr. ran a grudge race against Young Blood, a handicap event, but Glend Jr. turned on the redlight.

March 4, 2005 - Glend and Glend, Jr. were at No Problem Raceway Park's 1st annual Super Chevy Show for test and tune.  Glenn, Jr. came off the trailer with a super 9.251 @ 148 MPH on his first pass, but backed it up with a 9.21 @ 148 MPH.  Little Glend had a perfect light (.000) on the first pass.

Glend, Sr. has been trying to hook up a match race between Mr. Skip and his Camaro.  The Glend's would seem to have the edge if this race was run today.  The best Mr. Skip could do today was 9.269 @ 144 MPH.  It would be close!

March 5, 2005 - Little Glend laid down another 9.21 @ 148 MPH today before the water pump gave out.  They have another pump at the house and will return tomorrow to race in the big Super Chevy Bracket Race.

March 6, 2005 - The water pump was replaced in time for round one of the Super Chevy Show Bracket Race.  They won in round one, but lost in round two.  The car ran just fine and went home with nothing broken.

May 6, 2005 - Glend took his car to show to the kids at Prescott Middle School.  This was a part of the Baton Rouge SMART Program support of schools in our area.  This is the third time we have been invited to Career Day at Prescott.  After the class periods were over, we were treated to a very nice home cooked lunch, and we were given certificates of appreciation.

May 14, 2005 - Glend attended the Battle on the Bayou at Louisiana Raceway and helped out at the gate with the tickets, releases and the kids.

June 3, 2005 - Visit To Summer School
Get them while they are young! Bracket Masters Racing Team took 4 cars, including the Jr. Dragster, to visit the
Summer Program at God's Way Christian Academy

The cars that were present were, Mr. Warren Birkett with his M/SA station wagon, recent winner of class at a national event, Mr. Willie Beathley with his 9 second small block Chevy wagon, Mr. Glend McDonald with his 9 second big block Chevy Camaro, and Mr. Skip Holbert handled the teams Jr. Dragster. Also supporting the event were Mr. James Richardson and Mr. Reggie Jackson, Director of Baton Rouge SMART Program.

September 4, 2005 - Glend McDonald's Motorcycle Club, the "Nubian Kruzers", has donated $200.00 to Glen Oaks High School to help.  There are several members of their club that have taken in evacuee's.  Sunday, 9/4/05, the Kruzers are having a big Bar-B-Que for approximately 30 evacuees that are living with members of the motorcycle club.
On Sat., 9/3/05, eleven members of the Kruzers volunteered time at Bethany World Prayer Center in Baton Rouge to unload trucks with supplies.  Bethany has opened a very large evacuee center at their church.

October 7, 2005 - Glend and Glend Jr. were at the track for test and tune.  They made one pass and were pleased at the performance of the engine.  They are trying to set the throttle stop to be able to run Super Street or Super Gas.

November 4, 2005 - Glend Jr. drove the "High Powered II"  1968 Camaro to a best time of 8.94 @151 MPH.  This time was recorded with the engine on the chip at about the 1000' mark.  Houston watched the car leave the line and said it carried  the front wheels past the 60 ft. lights!  We don't know what the car will do.  On the 2nd pass the car got a little out of the groove and Glend slowed to a 9.01 at the end of the quarter mile.  Congratulations Glend on your first 8 second run!

December 24, 2005 - Glend and the "Nubian Kruzers" Motorcycle Club delivered Christmas gifts to children in Baton Rouge General Hospital today.  The Christmas gifts were donated by Gerry Lane Enterprises of Baton Rouge.  The motorcycle club was given a Police escort from Gerry Lane Chevrolet to the hospital.  About 30 members and friends road with the club and visited with the children as gifts were passed out.

The Nubian Kruzers Motorcycle Club has been very active in helping the community during the Hurricane Katrina disaster.  They have stepped up to the plate on more than one occasion and helped various organizations around the city to cope with the new residents of our city by giving money, and their time working in the shelters.  Keep up the good work!  Glend McDonald is Treasurer of the Nubian Kruzers.

December 26, 2005 - Glend and his new friend enjoyed the BMRT Christmas Party.
