February 27, 2005 - Willie and Jeremy were at No
Problem Raceway Park with Mr. Willie's Wagon and ran a best of 9.41 sec.
This is real good for a small block Chevy engine. A check of the spark
plugs indicated a rich condition and they did not run in competition.
Willie will rejet the carb and get ready for Super Chevy. Two years
ago, Jeremy won the street class at Super Chevy in Baytown, TX. They
have moved up to Non-Electronic, but they are hoping for another win.
February 23, 2005 - Willie took Willie's Wagon out
to Capital High School for the first Auto Tech Car Show at that school.
The instructor, Mr. Kevin Stuart, was very happy to have the cars in his
shop. Due to the weather, Mr. Stuart arranged to have all of the cars
inside. The students and staff of Capitol enjoyed the cars and the
members of Bracket Masters enjoyed being there.
Willie is a graduate
of Capital High School and was the Sr. Class President of the 1968
graduating class. Willie played football and later went on to graduate
from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.

March 4, 2005 - Willie's Wagon did not have a good
day. Jeremy Beathley exhibited some good driving skills and prevented
what may have been two disasters. On their first run, the transmission
cooler hoses fittings blew off and put fluid under the tires of the wagon.
Jeremy kept the car off the wall and got it back to the pits safely.
After fixing that problem, they had the left front
brake lock up while Jeremy was passing through the traps at approximately
120 MPH! The car skidded straight to a stop, but not before ruining
the tire and cutting down the rim almost to the top of the bead area.
Auto Zone Manager, Taurus Jones helped Willie troubleshoot the problem.
While inspecting the right brake, they found that one had been subjected to
excessive heat, but was still working. Willie and Jeremy will replace
all the brake lines on the front of the car and inspect the calipers and the
other hardware on the front braking system. Willie has decided not to
participate in the rest of the Super Chevy event.
March 6, 2005 - Willie has made the decision to do
a complete overhaul of the front brake system, including new master
cylinder, new rotors and calipers, along with new brake lines to the front
wheels. He will also install a funny car cage in Willie's Wagon.
He will install the best seat belts available and purchase a new, top of the
line helmet. Jeremy will be well protected the next time he goes out
in the wagon. Safety is the most important thing to Willie and Jeremy.
March 14, 2005 -
Several members of BMRT met at Willie Beathley's home with
prospective members to discuss the formation of Bracket Masters
Motorsports Association (BMMA). Guest in attendance were, Len
Augustus, Warren Birkett, Leroy Rogers and Dave Walker. We will
showcase things the team does with Car Shows at Schools,
Jr. Dragster Kids, Career Days at Schools, Scholarship Program and
community involvement.
Willie has been selected to head up the new organization and will be
President of
Bracket Masters Motorsports
Association. Congratulations Willie!
March 16, 2005 - Willie picked up "Willie's Wagon"
from B&B Chassis Shop in Greenwell Springs, LA today. Willie had a new
trans cooler installed, a new window net that the driver can put in place
and remove without any help and a new chrome-moly funny car cage.
April 15, 2005 -
Willie and Houston were at State Capitol Dragway tonight to test the new
modifications to the brake system. Houston made two very good passes,
one for a 9.36 @ 142 MPH. The second pass was a win in the first round
of Super Pro eliminations. They could not continue due to the track
not having any gas, and they were almost empty. Willie and Houston
were very happy with the way the car ran.
April 16, 2005 - Willie participated in the Advance
Auto Parts Car Show. While at the show, J. C. Floyd discovered one of
the front wheel studs that had started to back out of the wheel. This
was the cause of the problem that Jeremy Beathley experienced on March 4th.
Willie has decided to tack weld all 10 of the front wheel studs in place to
prevent them from backing out.
April 30, 2005 - The
Mr. Willie Wagon was at the Battle on the Bayou at Louisiana Raceway.
With Mr. Arnold Jordan driving, they went to the semi-finals, where eventual
winner Bryant Colin, in his little Vega Wagon, beat Willie in a very close
race. The drivers could not tell who won until the win light came on.
The wagon has all new electronics installed and new
brakes all around. Arnold reported that everything worked just right
and the car drove excellent.
May 1, 2005 - Willie took his wagon to No Problem
Raceway Park for the Ford-Chevy-Mopar Cajun Nationals, with Arnold Jordan
driving. Confident of the new electronics "MR WILLIE" went three rounds only
to bow out with a -014-red light against a very fast dragster. Willie and
Jeremy think they are ready to take on the big boys in Super Gas, now!
May 14, 2005 - Willie took the
"Mr. Willie" to the Battle on the Bayou
and won the pro-tree 9.80 index class. The car was running just fine.
June 3, 2005 - Visit To
Summer School
Get them while they are young! Bracket Masters Racing Team took 4 cars,
including the Jr. Dragster, to visit the
Summer Program at God's Way
Christian Academy and make a presentation to the kids using the SMART
Program materials. During our visit, Mr. Willie Beathley introduced the film
and gave a brief history of our organization. The children were happy to
look at the race cars, but the thrill of the day was getting to sit in the
Jr. Dragster and act like they were driving. Many of the kids asked some
very good questions.
The cars that were present were, Mr. Warren Birkett with his M/SA station
wagon, recent winner of class at a national event, Mr. Willie Beathley with
his 9 second small block Chevy wagon, Mr. Glend McDonald with his 9 second
big block Chevy Camaro, and Mr. Oliver Holbert handled the teams Jr.
Dragster. Also supporting the event were Mr. James Richardson and Mr. Reggie
Jackson, Director of Baton Rouge SMART Program.
June
18, 2005 - Willie participated in the annual On Time Truck Club Car and
Truck Show at the Belmont Great Hall in Baton Rouge today. The wagon
was looking good and drawing a lot of attention.
Willie won 1st Place for Race Cars at the On Time Truck Car Show!
Congratulations Willie.
June 26, 2005 - Willie, Jeremy and Arnold
Jordan went to State Capitol Dragway to practice with the new electronics so
that Jeremy can get use to driving with the delay box.
Willie and Jeremy found out that there is more to electronic driving than
just pressing the button and leaving. Arnold, one of the best teachers
around, gave excellent instructions to Jeremy and Willie.
At the end of the instruction period, Arnold assumed the driving duties and
entered into Super Pro action at the track. Arnold won 1st Place in
Super Pro! After winning Super Pro, the team entered into the
Challenge Race against the winner of Non-Electronics. The prize for
that race was a free, all expense paid, entry into the $1,000,000 drag race
in Montgomery, AL later this year. Upon leaving the line, Willie's
station wagon sheared off the lugs on the drivers side and could not
complete the race. The race was won by Terry - "The Wagonmaster", in
his Mercury station wagon.
July 29, 2005 - Willie's wagon rolled to a 9.51
@140 mph at State Capitol Dragway with Houston Hawkins driving. This
is great considering the 90 degree heat. This was a test session to
try out the recently rebuilt transmission that Houston had built.
Everything worked just fine. Willie was very happy and was challenging
everyone in sight to a match race.
July
30, 2005 - Willie took the wagon to Elvin Drive BREC Center to a Homeowners
Association Car Show. The show was attended by many community
supporters who talked to the children and adults in the area. Bracket
Masters Racing Team supplied three cars. Fred McClain and his family
were also on hand with his race car.
Here
is a late photo, taken from Super Chevy Magazine when Jeremy and Willie won
the street class in 2002 in Houston at the Super Chevy Show.
Award Presentation
August 5, 2005 -
Willie had the wagon out at
State Capitol Dragway, with Arnold Jordan driving. During eliminations a big
grudge match was staged between Charles Edward's Camaro, with Youngblood
(Keith Veal) driving. Youngblood is one of the best drivers in the
area and finished number 5 in points at NPRP this past year and is almost
always in the money. Willie had Arnold Jordan driving his wagon.
Arnold is also one of the best drivers in the area, finishing 2nd in points
at State Capitol Dragway a few years ago and he is constantly finishing in
the money at NPRP. It was so close at the end both drivers thought they won,
but the light came on in Willie's lane. Arnold had a .053 light and ran,
9.606 on a 9.60, and Youngblood had a .004 light, but ran a little off his
dial-in, 9.155 on a 9.10. Do the math, the Margin of Victory (MOV)
was, .0001 on the time slip. That was a great race!
Congratulations Willie and Arnold.

December 26, 2005 -
Willie and Elois attended the BMRT Christmas Party. Willie conducted
the Door Prize Drawing, giving away two $50.00 Cortana Mall Gift
Certificates and three cases of oil (Willie &
Elois each won a case of oil). Arnold and Christine were Willie's
guest.
