Tarrus Jones, Sr.
Treasurer
Tarrus joined BMRT in October 2005.
He is from Zachary, LA . After working with Auto Zone for a number of
years, he is now the Store Manager of a Auto Zone store in Baton Rouge, LA.
Tarrus is raising his Son as single Father. He graduated from Northeast High School in
Zachary. He is originally from Baywood, LA, before moving to
Zachary.
Tarrus has been racing since 2002,
but has been working with race cars for a long time in various capacities.
He drives a 1976 Chevy Nova, in the Footbrake Class, and has raced at State
Capitol Dragway and No Problem Raceway Park.
June
15, 2008 - Tarrus attended the Father's Day Race at State Capitol Raceway.
March 16, 2008 - Tarrus was elected team Treasurer
and is a member of the board of directors.
Feb. 23, 2008 - Tarrus was having a good time and
the car was running excellent at the Super Chevy Show at State Capitol
Raceway opening event.

Nov. 11-12, 2007 - Tarrus had the Nova running like a "Super Chevy" at the Holiday Helpers Race at State Capitol Raceway!
Tarrus represented Bracket Masters Racing Team
during the graduation ceremonies for the D.A.R.E. on the Southern University
campus.

The Baton Rouge SMART Program and the
Bracket Masters Racing Team were invited
to participate in
"NHRA Day"
at the Community School for Apprentice
Learning
on
07/05/07. The CSAL Charter School is a
Middle Grade School located in East
Baton Rouge Parish at 1555 Madison
Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA. Our host for NHRA Day was
Mr. Khiresell Lee, the son of BMRT member, Robert Garner.
Mr. Warren Birkett, of BR SMART, was the
featured speaker. Mr. Reggie Jackson, of
the BMRT Youth Program, provided
additional information to the students.
The students were introduced
too the fundaments of racing
which included discussions of
the different NHRA classes,
staging during eliminations
and other race day
activities. This
presentation was aided by the
use of the NHRA and BMRT web
pages in addition to a power
point presentation provided
by our host. The students
were also introduced to the
different careers associated
with the automotive industry
including mechanics, computer
specialist, graphic
designers, writers,
publishers and engineers to
name a few.
After the classroom session’s
students went outside and
toured the cars provided by
members of the BMRT, including
the teams Junior Dragster.
At each car students were
provided details on the
construction of the car, the
required safety equipment and
the NHRA class that the car
competes in. This was followed by
a question and answer session
at each car. Team Members

and their Z28 Camaro
that is under construction.
Mr. Birkett is President of
the Baton Rouge SMART Program
and a honorary member of
BMRT.
After the class room and
outside activities the
students and members from the
BMRT and BR SMART were
treated to a pizza lunch by
our host.

June 22, 2007 - Tarrus was back at State Capitol
Raceway with the Nova and went all the way to the finals where he ram the
wheel standing Chevelle of Mr. Sam Harrison. Tarrus took too much
stripe and broke out to win runner-up in the Friday night Non-electronics
money class.
June 17, 2007 - Tarrus and family attended the
Father's Day Race. Tarrus had the Nova running very good and went to
the semi-finals before being eliminated.

Sept. 10, 2006 - Tarrus attended the
Louisiana Drag Classic.
Sept. 3, 2006 - Tarrus and Willie appeared on
KQXL-FM (Q106 Dot 5) today and really did a good job of promoting the racing
team and the sport of drag racing. Congratulations Willie & Tarrus.
June 18, 2006 - Tarrus and son, attended the Father's Day race at State Capitol Raceway.
Tarrus had his Nova out and the car was running very good.
Tarrus also participated in the
Father's Day race by being in on the planning for the race and the teams
picnic.
January 22, 2006 - Tarrus was elected Secretary of
Bracket Masters. Congratulations Tarrus!
12/26/05 - Tarrus attended the BMRT Christmas Party.
11/13/05 - Bracket Masters Racing Team held an
indoctrination ceremony and a Certificate of Official Membership was
presented to Mr. Tarrus Jones, along with his Bracket Masters I.D. Card.
